REUSE AND
DECONSTRUCTION

ReUse Program

The ReUse Program is a two million dollar salvaged building materials enterprise operated by The Green Institute. More than 75,000 annual customers from around the state and greater region find salvaged building items (kitchens, flooring, doors, windows, millwork, lighting, hardware, etc.) and green building product lines (Forest Stewardship Council-certified (FSC) wood products, granite, carpet, tile, etc.) at the ReUse Center.  The program has grown to include a combined 24,000 square feet in retail space and diverts an estimated 400 tons of reusable building material from the waste stream each year.  A unique feature to this building materials exchange includes DeConstruction Services, whereby area residents can earn living wages and build skills in carpentry and business operations. Crews disassemble and salvage building materials from demolition or remodeling project sites for resale in one of the ReUse Centers.

Reuse & Deconstruction

The ReUse Program was selected for the 2008 Best of Minneapolis Award in the Building Materials category by the U.S. Local Business Association (USLBA).
